Consider this a middle finger to the current atmosphere of intolerance being fostered and cynically manipulated in the US by Trump's nefarious administration. “I got a right to say ‘fuck you!’” Ribot snarls on the punkish ‘Personal Nancy’ – and he takes full advantage of that right with some righteous sloganeering: ‘Muslim Jewish Resistance’ name-checks Steve Bannon, Jeff Sessions and the KKK, cut with the shouted hook “Never again!” while ‘Fuck La Migra’ takes aim at the Immigration and Customs Agency and its reign of terror on the multicultural streets of Ribot's native Brooklyn. To quote his liner notes: “… we are gong to use the microphone handed to us as musicians to amplify the voices of rage in our community.” It's a refreshing blast of resistance and, as they say, punk as fuck, even while the music meanders from adrenalised stomps to wonky funk and psychedelic world-folk. As a trio, Ceramic Dog are tighter than tight – and they fight a good fight.
