A driving contemporaneous set from Rochester-based composer/bassist Montgomery that's packed with punchy horn hooks from altoist Sam Priven and tenorist Neil Carson, and tempered with some lyrical song forms such as the stirring ‘Home’. Drummer Evan Hyde adds some rhythm section fireworks, but it's the jousting horn lines that work most effectively here (MF).
