With this heartfelt 12-track homage to his older brother, pianist, vocalist and composer Freddy Cole delivers what surely must be considered the definitive Nat King Cole tribute date. The album is framed by two songs that Nat himself never sang, opening with Rodgers and Hart's apposite evergreen ‘Easy To Remember’ and closing with the touching embrace of the self-penned title-track.

Alongside the hits such as ‘Mona Lisa’ and ‘Sweet Lorraine’, the jazz standard which was to become one of Nat's signature songs, there are also some rarer gems including the effervescent ‘That's My Girl’ and the touching ballad ‘Maybe It's Because I Love You Too Much’. Supplying the excellent CD booklet notes, award-winning US writer and critic Will Friedwald asks the 84-year-old Cole why he was finally releasing a tribute to his brother, who passed away just over 50 years ago. “Because I felt the time was right,” he answers.

In an age of instant everything, such forbearance seems almost miraculous.
