Known to many as the producer of several first-rate jazz albums for the likes of Liane Carroll and Ian Shaw on his own Splash Point Records label, this debut album of original material from Neal Richardson scores highly for its myriad moods and conversational style. From the heartfelt jazz waltz penned by Neal's father and the poignant ‘The Soul Of New Orleans’ to the rollicking ‘All Out Blues’ and the filmic ‘Breathe’, Richardson displays his multifaceted artistry across a range of genres. Bringing the album to a suitably dramatic close, the samba-inspired ‘You're The Future’ features the 26-strong Ether-Real Choir plus the exciting Brazilian violinist Ricardo Herz. The beautifully produced hardback CD package is a work of art in itself, an artistic collaboration with awardwinning photographer Peter Prior whose evocative photographs – from the Milwaukee Art Museum to a Trafalgar Square fountain – subtly complement the narrative of each song.
