The two shimmering yet visceral improvisations on this mini-album were originally released on Nordwall's own imprint back in 2014. Sadly, only 20 vinyl copies (all of them signed by the participants) were made, so this Confront reissue is most welcome as we all get to hear this much-talked-about release for ourselves. And worth talking about it was, because this is compelling improv, demonstrating that you don’t have to shout to make your point. ‘Eca’ is like William Basinski's Disintegration Loops in reverse – improvised out of entropy rather than decaying into it; while ‘Etat’ sounds like the soundtrack to a movie full of insistent, looming horror, the musicians carried along by the images unfolding before their eyes.
