The title understates the case here, as this quartet of typically accomplished, tasteful and subtly swinging Scandinavians are never less than full-time elegant on this album of immaculately delivered originals.

The vibe is sort of modern retro mainstream – ‘Parisian Love Affair’ has clear Ellingtonian echoes, and very charming echoes they are too, while ‘Disco Double Trouble’ delivers neither disco nor trouble but instead a jaunty minor swing that would be perfect accompaniment for a whimsical animated feature.

The use of guitar rather than piano opens up the timbral space and gives the album an understated intimate feel, even though these guys can certainly swing hard when occasion demands. Leader Jonas Due delights with his clear tone and immaculate phrasing on his own ‘Oh’, while the bass and drum team show that they can cook at any tempo: elsewhere a more sedate Euro-feel predominates, and the team keep it light and keep it classy throughout.
