The recording may be five years old, but Smith knows how to keep this band and its high-energy fusion fresh and burning. This release is a double whammy in that the audio comes with a stonking, stylishly monochrome DVD of the performance. Although the band all have faces good for radio, the DVD confirms the sheer physicality of their commitment, whether it's rattlingthrough the ‘The Trouble With…’, featuring Valentino in his preferred funked up George Benson mode, or Smith rattling off a power solo on ‘Khanda West’. The album's stuffed with classic Vital material, covering their love for south Indian rhythms and the long time fave, driven by Smith's furious drums, ‘The Closer’. As those who've enjoyed Vital Information in the flesh will appreciate this isn't the One Great Night: this is a band that turns it on every night: enjoy.
