Never available on CD before, Myer's album has been released in tribute to sax man Ian Price. Price, a stalwart of the south coast scene, died young, but this neat set captures his sound as part of a band that revels in post bop grooves, frequently shaded with latin vibes. Myer may be better known for his rockier exploits with Turin Brakes but here he shares most of the writing credits with Price, who keeps his tone sweet, even on upbeat boppers like ‘Naptime’, while he does that languid 3am thang on ‘Stars’. Coltrane's balladic tones underwrite much of Price's feel, but he can get good and squally as on ‘Moon Tune’. Elsewhere Harrison's Rhodes work is immaculate, as you'd expect, flowing and fluent on the title track, urgent on ‘Lithuania’. After the intensities of The Orient House, this session must have felt like a (summer) breeze for Harrison. The tragedy is that it cannot be replicated.
