Fiery, New York-based outfit Kaisa’s Machine, helmed by the prodigious bassist Kaisa Mäensivu, has released “Origin Story”, a captivating new single from their forthcoming new album Moving Parts arriving this Friday, 14 March on Dave Douglas’ Greenleaf Music label.

Employing the talents of Mäensivu on bass, Eden Ladin on piano, Max Light on guitar, Sasha Berliner on vibraphone, and Joe Peri on drumset, plus an inspired guest appearance by Melissa Aldana on tenor saxophone, “Origin Story” showcases the band brilliantly negotiating the composition's ever-shifting rhythmic and harmonic patterns. “The dramatic bass line is the core of the song. It builds in intensity until Melissa takes it somewhere new and fresh in her solo," reflects Mäensivu.

The visually striking music video juxtaposes performance footage of Mäensivu and drummer Peri against the backdrop of Helsinki's urban architecture and natural surroundings, interwoven with intimate moments captured during the album's recording sessions at a Brooklyn studio. Employing vibrant color contrasts and dynamic cinematography that mirror the composition's shifting moods and textures, the video exemplifies what Mäensivu describes as "a conversation between sound and image."
