Video of the Day: The Modern Jazz & Folk Ensemble share their version of Nick Drake’s ‘Parasite’ featuring Kindelan

Led by saxophonist Sean Khan, the Modern Jazz & Folk Ensemble made their live debut at last year’s EFG London Jazz Festival last November, and following the release of the single ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’ (featuring Pentangle’s Jacqui McShee), the project continuers its tribute to the sounds of the late 1960s and early 70s folk revival, recasting and reimagining that music in a contemporary jazz setting, with featured guest vocalists.

Released on the Acid Jazz label, ‘Parasite’ finds the band entering Nick Drake’s dreamlike soundworld, with Laura Kindelan’s rich vocals set against a backdrop of soft psychedelic tape echoes, electric guitar and strings that create an intriguing blend of sounds.
