Agharta and Pangaea are two of Miles Davis’ least known albums from the 1970s but ironically they belong to a period which in recent years has influenced a host of new jazz groups from Norway’s Close Erase to Bugge Wesseltoft and a host of new groups on the young UK jazz scene notably Dave Okumu’s Jade Fox, the unrecorded group that was a predecessor to The Invisible.

As close to a household name on the international jazz circuit as it comes, Polish trumpeter Tomasz Stanko is set for a major change of direction with the release next month of a new album featuring a brand new Nordic band, making its London Jazz Festival debut as part of a major tour.

Polar Bear Signs To Leeds Label Leaf

Polar Bear has signed to the Leeds-based Leaf label and is to release a new album titled Peepers early next year to follow up their self-titled album released on Coventry-based Tin Angel which came out in 2008.
